Mountain Sports Hall of Fame Nomination Procedures
PurposeThe Mountain Sports Hall of Fame is organized as a means of recognizing, preserving and promoting the sports heritage of Eastern Kentucky. Many individuals with roots in this unique geographical area have made significant contributions or had extraordinary sports accomplishments. The Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of these worthy individuals by recognizing them as examples for others to emulate.
GovernanceThe Hall of Fame shall be governed by the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors in compliance with any signed sponsorship agreements. The selection process shall be governed and under the control of the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors and its Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
NominationThe following procedures shall be utilized for nominations to the Hall of Fame:
1. The Official Nomination Form approved by the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame shall be completed and submitted to and received by the Hall of Fame along with appropriate support material by December 31, of each year for a candidate to be considered for the following year’s class. Any nomination received by the Hall of Fame which does not contain current address and contact information for the nominee (or family if deceased) will not be considered.
In addition to the Official Nomination Form the following materials may be submitted for an individual to be considered for induction.
- Letter of Recommendation. A completed nomination form may be accompanied by letters of recommendation from the person making the nomination and other letters of support from appropriate individuals.
- A limited number of newspaper articles, magazine articles and copies of relevant material may be included to help substantiate the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee.
- A 5 x 7 photograph, preferably black and white, should be submitted with the nomination form.
