Donald R. Burton coached the Jenkins Cavaliers basketballers for two seasons going 22-5 in 1966-67 and the 1967-68 Cavaliers team shown here finished the season at 23-6.   This photo was found in an October, 2005 issue of The Kentucky Explorer Magazine. It was submitted to the magazine by the coach.

After failing to reach Regional Tournament play in 1966-67 the Cavaliers came back the following season to go all the way to the 14th Region championship game before falling to All State player Larry Stamper and his Lee County teammates.  Eddie Conley, Mike Sergent and Joe Cooper all were All State Honorable Mention honorees that 1968 season.

Roger Greer was an All State Honorable Mention selection in both the 1966 and 1967 seasons. The 1967 season was his lone one playing for Coach Burton. Greer went on to play football at the University of KY.
