Virgie Football

In 1990 the varsity football team from Shelby Valley made KHSAA as the first team ever to make the state playoffs in its first year of existence.  Known as “The Crunch Bunch,” the team finished with a 7-4 regular season record that stood for nearly ten years as the school’s winningest season until it was finally bested in 1999, when Valley went 9-2.

Just 20 years prior to that (1970) Virgie fielded their first football team.  Ray Hall was a member of that team, and he has allowed us to post his copy of the team photo and roster.

Virgie was one of the schools that consolidated to make Shelby Valley.
